Miami Intermodial Center (MIC)

Miami, Florida

The $325.5 million Rental Car Center and Associated Ramps contract represents the first major contract for the long-awaited Miami Intermodal Center. The four-level, 3.4 million sf RCC will provide ready/return rental car service, fleet storage and fueling and washing facilities.

The Rental Car Center (RCC) is the first major structure of the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) Program under construction with an opening date of spring 2010. It is designed and is being built by the Florida Department of Transportation under the purview of Earth Tech's MIC consultant management team, with HNTB providing construction engineering and inspection services and Turner Construction as contractor.

Each of its four levels is expandable to 20 acres in size; the first three floors dedicated to storage and maintenance operations and the fourth level to accommodate a spacious customer service lobby where vehicle renters may enter and choose their best option among rental car company offers - a virtual rental car shopping mall.

Titan used a 100 ft lifting beam for hoisting 135 ft pre-tied beams that had all of the post tensioning profiled. Titan maintained the aggressive three day cycle by having a project team of up to 70 co-workers.
